While the Jacob Olie Trio is brand new, its members are tried and true musicians. The trio’s violinist lives in the childhood home of the famous Amsterdam photographer, Jacob Olie (1834-1905). Olie is known for capturing the city of Amsterdam at the end of the 19th century. Using what were then considered to be advanced techniques, and with a refined sense of perspective, light and composition, he created beautiful images of a city on the rise.
The Jacob Olie Trio is, just as the photographer was, closely tied to the city of Amsterdam. The trio plays as Olie photographed, with an eye and an ear for beauty, collaborative play and composition.
